What a day Gunther has had.

One thing you need to know about Gunther is that he loves sleeping in to about 8AM. So on days where we are getting up and out of the house by 7:30 he moves a little slow. Well today was one of those days plus some. Not only did he have to get up early, he had his first trip to the salon to get bathed and nails trimmed. I have always put his butt in the shower and it's worked well, but he's a little big to that now and it's slippery and I've been concerned about him slipping and something happening to those sexy legs of his. Anyway, he did well, and he smells so good and is so soft. You just want to hug him and not let go. LOL. Then he came home for a little while and napped. The boy was tired. So after about a 30 minute nap, off we went again. This time we got home just in time for his dinner. He was so tired he didn't want to eat until after he had another nap. LOL.

Speaking of his dinner. He loves the new food. I've changed him over to Eagle Pack Large/Giant Breed Puppy food. One of the places in the Atlanta area where you can get it, is the Airport
Park 'N Bark. It's a Pet Resort and Doggy Daycare near the Atlanta Airport. You can leave your dog and car there and I believe pick up a shuttle to the airport. Anyway, check out the web site. They have some awesome credentials, trainers, etc, and the price on the food was very reasonable. The other great thing about them is that the owners have Great Danes. Very Cool.

So I'll leave you with another cute photo of my little guy. Gunther and I wish you a very Happy New Year!

A Gunther Christmas

How appropriate Gunther sitting between my two human kids Christmas morning, rolling and playing in the wrapping paper. LOL. Gunther had a great time. The kids tossed the paper in the air and he'd go crazy going after it. Santa was really good to Gunther this year bringing him, a bag of all natural treats, a new University of Tennessee collar and orange leash and several Kong and Chew toys.

We hope you too had a wonderful Christmas. Posted by Picasa

How time flies

It's hard to believe that it's been over a week since I posted. We did have our trip to Tennessee to visit my mom last week and it went really well except I didn't get to take Gunther. Long story short, he ended up having to stay home and I missed him so bad it was terrible. I couldn't wait to get home. When I walked in the door he was as excited to see me as I was him. We got home Sunday, the 18th, and he hasn't left my side since. What did work out was that a friend of mine had the week off and so Gunther had a friend here at the house with him the whole time.

I was a little concerned about leaving him, afraid that he would loose his commands and I'd have to start all over with him, but he did fine, he ate well and slept good. In fact he learned to catch the tennis ball from a further distance, and from what I gathered he got to go out and play 2 or 3 times a day so Gunther had undivided attention, and I couldn't have asked for any better.

Near where my mom lives they just opened a Doggie Cafe. Of course I went in and spent way too much money. But the prices on treats (all natural) was too good to pass up. The sad thing was that Santa was there and people were getting their pets photos taken with Santa, like I wanted to with Gunther. Oh well, there is next year. Maybe in the year ahead I can talk someone into dressing up like Santa for me and I'll take the picture. LOL.

That's about it for now, we are finalizing our Christmas plans and trying to Gunther out from under the tree so that's keeping us busy.

bye for now

He's in the Christmas Spirit

Today Gunther got an early Christmas present. Actually it's more for our entertainment than his. LOL. But, he liked wearing his hat, he left it on about an hour. We laughed till we cried. I can't wait for his breeder to see this pictures. Let's say he isn't big into "dressing up" the dogs. Of course I wouldn't be me without sending him a few pictures now and then of Gunther all dolled up.

This shirt is so cute. It has a reindeer embroidered on the back of it. Now it's an Xlarge and I can tell you right now that next Saturday he won't be able to fit in it. LOL. He's a growing little boy. I wanted to get a picture of him with Santa but that didn't work so this is the next best thing.

Gunther's actions so many times reminds me of a little child. When he doesn't get enough exercise he starts getting into things, when he's tired and doesn't want to go to sleep he fights it and tries to stay awake. Then yesterday, like many little kids wanting to drink what their parents have, Gunther got into my Coke Cola I had sitting on the shelf side of my computer desk. He liked it. LOL. He got about 2 or 3 good drinks of it. When I caught him, he acted like he couldn't for the life of him figure out why I wouldn't want him to have it. It was hard not to laugh at his expression while I was correcting him.

I think that this might be the happiest Christmas I have had in years because of Gunther.

It's Cold and Rainy

When you have weather like we have in GA. today and most of your work is done, what better thing is there to do than drink coffee and take pictures of Gunther? So here are a couple of new ones.

He has been doing some many funny things lately. My favorite so far is the tennis ball tricks he does. In stead of crushing the tennis ball, which he easily could, he runs around with it in his mouth, then all of sudden he'll shake his head and throw it. Of course he runs and chases it down and starts the game all over. I'm waiting for the tennis ball to land in my coffee one of these days.

Say Hello To My Little Friend

The Gun-man went to the vet this morning and got his last booster. He did great. Still a little shy though. He weighs almost 52 pounds. I'm sure with the lunch he just ate he's over 52. LOL. Anyway, his heart is good, his legs are good, his lungs were good, no lumps or bumps. Dr. Starr said that she was pleased with his growth it wasn't too fast or too slow, he is right on the money. I am pleased. He did a wonderful Sit and Down for her so I'm glad that he is doing his commands in places where he's distracted. When we were in the waiting area another dog came in and Gunther wanted to play with him, but the other dog was too afraid of him. The lady looked at me with daggers like how dare your dog even look at mine. It was too funny.

Anyway, here is a picture I just took of my baby.
